UM & Ex-UM Practices for month of February and March 2011

We have been given use of Gym 1 @ UM for basketball practices as follows:

1. Wednesday nights - 7:30-10:45pm
2. Thursday nights - 7:30-10:45pm
3. Saturday mornings - 8-11am

UM will be having "skills and drills" practices on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. All Ex-UM players, especially those taking part in JW Cup are highly encouraged to attend and participate in drills practices as well.

Thursday nights are set aside for "games / 5-on-5" practices. All Ex-UM are cordially invited to attend and participate in some 5-on-5 games against UM.

Ex-UM's next up-coming competition (and the first for 2011) will be the Johnny Walker Cup organized by Xballer at the outdoor Wawasan Puchong basketball court (the same venue as Puchong Open), scheduled to start 5 March 2011.

Ex-UM @ Carlsberg - (Belated) Final Report

We played well in our final game (Semi Finals) and even led by 15 points in the 2nd quarter, however JK5's very good, match-up-switching-zone-defense, starting taking away all open shots on the perimeter and we started struggling to score. Eventually, we lost to a better team.

It turned out to be our final game because the other Semi-Finals (between Carlsberg and CSK) ended in controversy. Unhappy at several non-calls by the referees, CSK refused to finish the game and staged a walk-out!! That meant an automatic disqualification of CSK and we became 3rd place finishers by default!!

Despite the strange circumstances, Ex-UM ultimately finished 3rd place! One of our best finishes in a long time and a hard-fought, well earned one too (see earlier reports on earlier games).
