Ex-UM @ Carlsberg - (Belated) Final Report

We played well in our final game (Semi Finals) and even led by 15 points in the 2nd quarter, however JK5's very good, match-up-switching-zone-defense, starting taking away all open shots on the perimeter and we started struggling to score. Eventually, we lost to a better team.

It turned out to be our final game because the other Semi-Finals (between Carlsberg and CSK) ended in controversy. Unhappy at several non-calls by the referees, CSK refused to finish the game and staged a walk-out!! That meant an automatic disqualification of CSK and we became 3rd place finishers by default!!

Despite the strange circumstances, Ex-UM ultimately finished 3rd place! One of our best finishes in a long time and a hard-fought, well earned one too (see earlier reports on earlier games). 

Well done Ex-UM!!

Ex-UM's next game in Carlsberg competition is tonight Friday 14 Jan, 7:30pm at USJ14, Goodyear Court 9 against GVK.

This is our last Round #1 game and is a critical one. If we win, we will advance to the next round but if we lose we will be out.

Ex-UM @ Carlsberg - Game #3 Recap

Game 3 was on 3 January 2011 vs eGlobex, our first game of the year. As usual, Ex-UM's performance gets better and better as the competition progresses. eGlobex, though not as strong as Carlsberg, was also a strong team in their own rights. We started poorly, trailed by 21 in the 2nd quarter, but chased up and won 83-80!! What a game it was!!

Unfortunately, with Suo Kuen in Bangkok now, we had no one to video the game and I therefore could not do the usual game stat. Instead, after the game (whilst my memory was still fresh), I decided to do a "brief" game recap. But as I put pen-to-paper (or more accurately, finger-to-keyboard), I ended up typing up a way more detailed recap than I intended!!! Haha. Ex-UM @ Carlsberg - Game #2 Stats

Game 2 was on 29 December 2010 against what should be the STRONGEST team in our Group i.e. the home team "Carlsberg".

Ex-UM played MUCH better. Had we played this well, we would have won our game 1 easily. However, Carlsberg is really a strong and well balanced team and they played well too. Although we managed to stay close for 2+ periods, we were ultimately unable to match their offensive consistency and depth. Despite losing, we all felt much better about this game than our game 1.

Below is the game stat for our game 2 vs Carlsberg. As can be seen from the efficiency rating, many players played much better. Ching and Ming Lip still maintained high ratings and Phang and Poh Guan both doubled their efficiency. Well done all!!

Ex-UM @ Carlsberg - Game #1 Stats

Ex-Um has been taking part in Carlsberg 2010 basketball competition, played at USJ14 Goodyear Court 9.

Our first game was on 27 December 2010 against what should be the "least-strong" opponent in our group. Unfortunately, as usual, our first game also seem to always turn out to be our poorest performance! With almost 1 month's lay off since our last game (be it competitive or social), we all performed poorly. Particularly, game pace and ball movement were way too slow. Ex-UM lost 59-68, in a game which we all felt we should have won.

Below is the game stat for our game against Lian Yew. Only Ching played well and had VERY high efficiency rating (30!!)
