Ex-UM @ JW Cup - Game 3 Stats (vs Ba Tong)

Ex-UM played another good game yesterday against Ba Tong Basketball Association, though far from our best. A hard fought win (57-51) against a good, quality team from Muar!

Our next game will be against JK5 on Tuesday, April 12, 2001 next week, 7:30pm at Wawasan 4, Puchong. Come support us!

We made a lot of errors (19 TOs) and missed a lot of shots (shooting only 38% on 2s, 7% on 3s and 41% on FTs!!) yesterday. Fortunately, we played well defensively, forcing 17 TOs, blocking 10 shots (!), holding the opponent to low FG percentage (28% on 2s, 23% on 3s) and dominated the boards, getting 41% of available Offensive Rebounds and 71% of available Defensive Rebounds. We also caused more than a few shot clock violations by our opponent or desperation shots with shot clock winding down.

In the end, our superior "size" won the game for us (as can be seen from our dominant rebounding, shot blocking and 38 points in the paint). Also, we managed 14 points on fast breaks whilst only allowing 4 points on fast breaks. Ba Tong BA's poor FT% (40%) also helped (us) tremendously.

The most impressive stat is that all players who played had a positive "Efficiency Rating". None had negative! A true team effort!

Individually, special mention must go to:-
1) Ching - our "Dwight Howard" who as usual gets a double-double : 15 pts, 18 rebs plus 3 blocks;
2) Chuan - who continues to improve game to game - scored a few critical baskets at critical moments - also with a double-double : 12 pts, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks.
3) Jensen - who made several critical steals and scores also at critical junctures of the game and played excellent defense on the opponent's primary scorer : 11 pts, 4 rebs and 3 assist;
and
4) Poh Guan - who, with about 2 minutes left and the opponent having caught up to 52-49 (and our team having had several consecutive possessions where we failed to score), hits a critical long 2 pt shot that broke the opponent's run and allowed us to hold on for the win : 8 pts, 7 rebs, 3 assists and 2 blocks.

Well done all!
