Ex-UM @ JW Cup - Game 4 Stats (vs Grifficane)

Grifficane was a non-Chinese team. We always admire such teams. Despite almost always losing due to lack of fundamental skills, Grifficane nonetheless played the best that they could, with the limited skills that they had, never giving up.

Ultimately, we won easily 56-29.  However, I was extremely unhappy that the table officials, being of the opinion that Grifficane was over-matched, shaved off substantial time off from each quarter. Doing the game stats from our recorded video, my suspicions (at game time) was confirmed and I found the table officials had shaved off an average of 2-3 minutes off each quarter, with the 2nd quarter being the worst, with only 6 min 30 secs game time (having had 3 1/2 minutes shaved off). I feel this is extremely unfair to Grifficane who, after all, paid money and took part in the competition to have the opportunity to play competitive basketball, despite knowing they will likely lose most (if not all) of their games. They should not be prevented from having the opportunity to play the full 40 game minutes, regardless of the results or whether they were over-matched.

We won the 1st quarter easily, leading comfortably 19-2. However, in the 2nd quarter, we played mostly our bench players and actually lost that quarter 5-2. When the whistle blew, we all thought it was a time out and everyone, players and spectators alike were shocked when told the quarter had ended. I was extremely disappointed at the table officials shaving minutes off.

Nonetheless, we played on and had another big 3rd quarter, putting the game out of reach.

We had the opportunity to play all players and we let our bench players play as much as possible (though we used our starters in the 3rd quarter just to make sure the game was out of reach).

Ching, as usual, gets a double-double (23 pts, 10 rebs) for us, with 3 steals and 3 blocks. After my previous game (in Hoops) where I missed all my shots, I managed to get a 3 pointer (off Pin's nice assist) and chipped in a game leading 5 assists. Sem had an "off game" and had an uncharacteristic 2/9 FGM/A, 5 TO's night, though he still chipped in 6 points. The remainder of the points were shared out among the other players.
