MASUM 2011 - G2 vs UMS - Results and Detailed Stats

Our boys played another excellent game today against UMS, winning 77-39.

We did not have as good a start as we did against UPM. I didn't expect us to and cautioned our boys before the game not to feel pressured to "repeat" the excellent start we had against UPM. Despite my caution, I felt our boys still felt like they "had to" have the same fantastic start so that although we were still playing well, because we were not playing as "dominantly", our boys' spirits were somewhat down early in the game and they "tried too hard" on defense resulting in some uncharacteristic early fouls.

We finished the first quarter with a slight lead (14-10) but was clearly in control of the game. With encouragement, our boys quickly settled down, stopped trying too hard and we had as dominant a 2nd quarter as we could, holding UMS to just 4 points in that quarter whilst running off 17 points to take a commanding 31-14 lead at the half.

From there we just stayed focused and continued to outscore UMS in the 3rd (26-18) and again had a dominant 4th quarter, holding UMS to just 7 points in the final period. Final score : UM wins 77-39.

As a team, we again achieved many of our team stat goals, with 87 shot attempts (lower slightly than the UPM game but still good), an even more dominant performance in rebounds, achieving 75%
Defensive rebounding efficiency (getting closer to our goal of 80%) and 51% Offensive rebounding efficiency (exceeding our goal of 50%!) and maintaining our 0.9 points per possession.

Team captain Ching #13 again led the way with another double-double (18 pts, 11 rebounds) and we had contribution and scoring across the board, not just from 1 or 2 players. Above are the detailed player and team game stats.

Well done again UMBBT.

Tomorrow we have a heavy schedule, with Quarter Finals (against UTM) at 8am and Semi Finals (vs either UMP or USM) also tomorrow at 5:30pm.

We are ready for tomorrow's challenges and we look forward to continuing our good run. Will post results here again tomorrow.
