UM won it's first UCBL game vs UiTM despite just having finished their exams and not having had any practices yet (though UiTM is also in the same situation). Final score : 79-51. I was Not able to attend as I am in Dubai for work. Well done UM players and UM Coaches!

Only 8 players attended today's game, they are Ching, Jensen, Amirul, Jack, Kai, Raymond, Cher and Kelvin. Kelvin got fever and we decided not to play him. UiTM are almost last yr's team except Arif(graduated), Big Ayir(Working) and no.11 shooter. They have some new players but none of them are strong. They are only an average team with the absence of Arif and Ayir, also they are just back from exam and without proper training according to their coach, Alvin. Anyway, our team are almost in the same situation, fyi, we cancelled Friday's practice cos we can't get gym.
We arrived early at the game venue and since it's 1st game, therefore have the luxury of time to have more warm up (UiTM also same). We manage to run some pass & cut drills and circle movement drills before the game. We start the game with good defense but a little slow on boxing-out, given them some 2nd chance points. Offensively, we didn't response well to their press defense, our players managed to get shots but not those shots that we normally took( a little bit force and off rhythm). Coach Alvin play 5 in 5 out, I think he was trying to take advantage of us consider we have just 7 players. We rotated some players in the 1st Q to get the starters some rest but due to limited options, some players like Ching and Jack had to play extra minutes than usual(anyway, we watched closely about players condition). We are down by 10-16 after 1 Q, however the game was very much in control. Also, seniors like Jensen and Amirul were taking the lead to encourage each other to raise the team spirit. Well done!
2nd Q, we improved our defense and boxing-out. Offensively, our shorts started to drop including 1 3pt from Amirul and Jensen each. Ching at the meantime, started to score, he had 8 pts! We have a big 2nd Q, 21-8. Half time 31-24, UM lead.
3rd Q, we maintain our great defense and started to face guard their point guard(the one who also selected for AUG try-out) by Jensen. Ching continue to dominant, scoring 9 pts and our 3pointer continue to drop( 1 each from Amirul, Ching and Jack). 21-8 quarter again. 52-32 UM lead.
4th Q, I started to rotate more frequent. We manage to maintain the lead. UiTM obviously lose focus and we got a lot of easy shots and score. But about 7 mins left, Jack cramp his leg, I sub him out. He wanted to go in again, but I refuse. I called a time out to let our players rest with 5mins left. I also wanted to sub Jensen out about 3 mins left but before I can do so, he also cramp his leg. I got no choice but to switch to 13 defense, and told players to slow down on offense but play decent defense and box-out. We finish this quarter with 27-19. Final score, 79-51.
All player took the floor scored. Ching as usual had a monster game, scoring 28 pts and I think near 20 boards. Amirul had an exceptional great game with great passing and good defense, also scoring 14 pts. Jensen lead the pace scoring 13 pts and some assists, set the tone on defense, shutting down their point guard in the 2nd half. Jack also play excellent defense(guarding Saifu occasionally and cos him offensive foul), distribute the ball well, however, I think he can further improve by making some easy pass instead of trying too much to make plays. Raymond play well also, but need to improve his stamina. Kai need to calm down a little bit and improve his defensive skill. Cher need to improve his fundamental skill, but I like his always-on-attacking-mode style, putting a lot pressure on defense. Also, all players play with high spirit and hustle. Well done.
Our opponent tmr is New Era college, they are a young and in-experienced team, we shdn't have problem to play them. However, I ll remind our players to respect the opponent and play our best. Also, we ll rotate our players more often not to let players to get too tire, and prevent the cramp muscle issue happened again. With Hau, Hong Ten and hopefully Kelvin, we ll be able to go in to 5 in 5 out.
